Annual 1970's Liverpool Polytechnic Reunion
Gathering Enters 10th Year
On Saturday 24th September alumni gathered in The Ship & Mitre pub for the annual Liverpool Polytechnic BA General reunion. This year’s reunion attracted new members and was a great success.
Over the weekend some alumni visited old haunts around Tithebarn Street and some chose to meet outside the Beatles Museum in spite of the fact they barely remembered one another! Conversation flowed over dinner at Jamie Oliver’s restaurant and with the aid of a few 1970’s party photos that old reunion magic soon kicked in.
Alumni that were unable to make the trip this year sent their best wishes and assurances they would make the next one. It was agreed that all should meet up and do it all over again at the same time, same place next year.
Next year will be a special occasion for the reunion as it will be the 40th anniversary of the first time everyone came together as students. There is even talk of having a nostalgic dinner menu in honour of the legendary Liverpool Polytechnic canteen that fed students so well back in the 1970’s.
Pictures of the evening can be seen on Facebook.
Reunion organiser, Jackie Waters has invited people to use the Facebook group to upload old Polytechnic photos and/or post reunion messages.
