Tejendra Pherali
Tejendra is a Senior Lecturer in Education Studies and Sociology in the Centre for Education and Early Childhood Studies. He is the coordinator of the Centre’s international research project - Education for Peacebuilding and chairs the Network for Research in Education and Conflict. His research involves education, conflict and peacebuilding. He is also interested in the area of international development with a focus on ethnicity, identity and post-conflict reconstruction of education. Prior to being appointed as a Senior Lecturer in LJMU, he worked in a various capacities including of school teacher, lecturer, administrator and research consultant in both private and non-governmental organisations.

Career history and current interests
Tejendra comes from a research as well as practitioner’s background particularly in the field of international development. He is interested in education, conflict studies and peacebuilding approaches internationally. He has also developed international collaboration which contributes to faculty’s research profile as well as helps introduce a global dimension to student’s learning experience in the Centre.Professional activity / Consultancy/successful bids

- Impact of armed conflict on school education in Nepal – Doctoral research (Writing Stage)
- The public perception of the media as a peacebuilding tool during the peace process in Nepal (Working title), - this project is a part of the broader theme ‘The Creation of Public Meaning during Nepal’s Democratic Transition’ funded by the International Partnerships Scheme of the British Academy, coordinated by the School of Oriental and African Studies (SOAS, London) and Martin Chautari, Kathmandu.
