Biography:

I have been a midwife since 1997, I have worked in numerous care settings including: team midwifery, group practice midwifery and senior labour ward midwife.  I have worked as a lecturer since 2004.  In 2006, I was appointed as a teaching and learning co-ordinator and have a special interest in e-learning. I am a module leader for a number of different midwifery modules and also teach on other non-midwifery programmes (including paramedic, adult, child and mental health nursing). I am a programme leader for an advanced practice CPD - Examination of the newborn.

Teaching Interests:

Caring for Vulnerable Women. Perinatal Mental Health. Clinical skills. Antenatal Care. The Examination of the Newborn.

Research Interests:

'Marketing the Midwife' - an exploration of allied professional views on the role of the midwife.
'Mark Up' - an alternative method of providing feedback on summative work.
'Making Discussion Boards Work' - ongoing evaluation on the set up and use of discussion boards as a teaching and learning tool.

Publications: 2002 - Conference presentation on Group practice midwifery (NW Best Practice Conference, Bolton).
2006 - Conference presentation on 'Mark up' - an alternative method of providing feedback on summative work (LJMU T & L Coordinator).
