Biography: J C Harrison worked initially as a staff nurse in an in-patient Children’s Mental Unit and then as a Community Psychiatric Nurse and Nursing Officer in the British Army. He undertook doctoral research into the attitudes of clinicians toward children who carry out acts of deliberate self-harm.
Teaching Interests:

Children’s Mental Health; Post Traumatic Stress Disorder; Research Methods. The Sociology of Health and Illness. Post-graduate research supervision.

Research Interests:

Attitudes toward mental illness in the young. In the interplay between mental illness and social construction.
