Student Profiles: Russia

Alexandre Kravtsov, HND Computer Studies

"LJMU has an excellent reputation and is a well recognised university in Russia."

I decided to come to Liverpool because LJMU has an excellent reputation and is a well recognised university in Russia. My first impression of Liverpool was that the people were really friendly. The International office provided me with a lot of assistance when I first arrived.

My tutors are very helpful and I feel comfortable asking them questions. They try to ensure that everyone fully understands what is being taught before we move on to a new area, that way nobody gets left behind.

When I complete my HND, I hope to complete an undergraduate degree in Computer Games Technology here at LJMU.

I spend most of my time on my studies, but in my free time I like to go out with friends and watch sport.

I would recommend LJMU to any student, regardless of their nationality.

Artur Abinov, Sports Development with P.E
Surgut City, Siberia

"Being a student here is absolutely amazing . . . the facilities and staff are brilliant."

What were your first impressions of Liverpool?

When I arrived for my course interview I really liked the city, and the people were very friendly to me. I’d heard that it had recently been named European Capital city of Culture, and it seemed like a really exciting place to be.

How is your course progressing?

We had a very long induction, which was useful to students who maybe had not studied sports courses before. I have a lot of practical sessions, seminars and lectures, which are all very interesting. The tutors are all very friendly and helpful, and anyone can book an appointment with them if we are having any problems with the course. I particularly enjoy the practical seminars where we learn swimming, athletics, football, and basketball. The facilities we use are really good as well.

What’s it like to be a student at LJMU and live in Liverpool?

Being a student here is absolutely amazing. The city centre has a big student population so it feels like a community. The facilities and staff are brilliant. When I’m not studying, the week nights out are very enjoyable. Club nights such as Carnage, Medication, and Garlands are a great way to make friends.
