Liverpool John Moores University Student Omar Abuel Ma’Atti tells us about his experiences at JMU whilst conducting his PhD in Wireless networks
I did my masters in the UK, and applied to 70 universities for my PhD. I did extensive research into higher education institutions through the internet and chose LJMU. The prospectus website made this process a lot easier – it is actually quiet good, I was very impressed with it. The faculty site is also really informative and easy to use.
The facilities are really good, and I feel lucky to be here. When I first arrived I helped build a brand new lab, which was great to be involved in something from the beginning. My professor is really supportive and supports me with my funding. The faculty is excellent, and the staff really help the students fulfil their potential. The whole process of me getting here was really quick as well; within one month of me sending my application I was made an offer.
One of the reasons for me coming here was that Liverpool has a very safe environment, which I feel is improving all the time. The people are very nice and friendly. It also has convenient shops located in the city centre for instance the 24 hour Tesco metro. It is very much a student city and all the university sites are within walking distance.

ليفربول بيئة آمنة ، و أشعر أنها في تحسن مستمر . الناس طيبون و ودودون . كما توجد العديد من المحلات التجارية في مركز المدينة مثل تيسكو ميترو الذي يفتح 24 ساعة في اليوم . ليفربول مدينة طلابية و كل المواقع الجامعية قريبة .
المرافق جيدة جداً ، و أشعر بأنني محظوظ لكوني هنا . عندما وصلت لأول مرة ، ساعدت في إنشاء مختبر جديد ، و التي كانت خبرة جيدة في الإشتراك من البداية . كان أستاذي يقدم لي الدعم الأكاديمية و المالي .
الكلية ممتازة و الأساتذة يقدمون الدعم للطلاب لتحقيق أهدافهم . عملية المجئ لهنا برمتها كانت سريعة و ممتازة ، حيث كانت في خلال شهر واحد من إرسال طلب التقديم .
عندما يكتمل بحثي ، آمل أن أجد عملاً في المملكة المتحدة في وظيفة أكاديمية ، حتى أتمكن من التدريس ، بالإضافة إلى إجراء البحوث . ساستخدم خبراتي في المستقبل في مجال الصناعة .
موقع الحصول على المعلومات كان جيداً جداً ، و قد إنبهرت به كثيراً . موقع الكلية على الإنترنت به معلومات ممتازة ، كما أنه سهل الإستخدام .
إستمتعت بالذهاب للسينما ، لقاء الإصدقاء ، و الذهاب لمختلف المطاعم مع أصدقائي .
