Student Profile From Mexico

Samantha Rogers, International Journalism, Mexico

How helpful were the LJMU international team when you decided to apply?

I met Dave Liston in Mexico at a recruitment exhibition. He was really helpful, as I had a lot of questions regarding the weather, tuition, and the course. I stayed in touch throughout my application, and he was really great for answering all my queries and keeping me up to date with my application.

What were your first impressions of Liverpool?

I arrived by train into Liverpool and I immediately thought the city was really beautiful, especially St. George’s hall. The buildings here are very historic with a lot of character.

What are your impressions of the course?

There are some areas which I have never studied before such as Journalism History, Politics, and Government Issues, but I’m really enjoying them. The staff in the faculty are really helpful and friendly. Our head of department knows every single student on the course, and it really makes you feel that they are interested in your personal development. The level of expertise they all have is incredible.

What do you do in your spare time?

Liverpool has lots of cool clubs and bars, such as Medication or Modo, the shopping is great and everything is in walking distance. There is a lot of variety.

What do you hope to achieve when you have graduated?

I love the BBC so maybe I’d like to work for them one day.

Would you recommend LJMU to other Mexican students?

Liverpool as a city is filled with really nice people and living here is great. Its location is fantastic for travelling: I’ve been to Paris, London and I plan to go to Milan soon. LJMU is a great university and its certainly proved to be everything I’ve wanted and more.
