Bridesmaids by Tabitha Burns – Novas Centre (new writing)

There are two worlds in Bridesmaids: one of folklore and magic woven through fairy tales and story-telling; and one of reality, where there are complicated relationships and no happy endings. Set in the summer of 1939, when the Second World War is a dark cloud on the horizon and, for the people living in rural England, fairies exist outside the pages of children’s books and steal brides away on their wedding day. The bride in Bridesmaids must be particularly mindful as her wedding day draws nearer and the two worlds start to collide.
