Finding it challenging living in a new environment? Struggling with the transition from home to university? Feeling lonely? If so, there is plenty of support available at LJMU to get you through.
If you feel unsettled and uncertain since you came to University and feelings of going home keep popping into your head, the Student Advice and Wellbeing team can help you right now. We have Counsellors, Advisors and a team of specially trained staff who can help you settle into your new surroundings and assist with your emotional wellbeing.
3 top tips for coping with homesickness
- Talk to your mates from your flat or course and see if anyone else is feeling the same way, you'll be surprised how many people will be feeling homesick too.
- Talk to others at University: your personal tutor, Residential Assistant (for those living in Halls), Students' Union and the Student Advice and Wellbeing team are all people who may help.
- Try not to sit in your room in front of your computer - no matter how hard it is to do, try to go out and be social with your university friends. It can do wonders for homesickness and can take your mind off missing home, help you relax and have a good time.
