Travel for less with a GEM pass

26 January 2012

Students can now travel for less with the Merseyrail GEM Pass including a week's extra travel for free.

You may purchase weekly or monthly tickets that you can use 24 hours a day, 7 days a week anywhere on the Merseyrail network.

Designed specifically for HE/FE students (including part time and postgraduates), the pass also includes dozens of discounts and deals at local shops, pubs and restaurants. All you need to do is fill in the application form here and take it to any Merseyrail station on the Wirral or Northern Line.

As an added bonus, to celebrate the launch of the pass LJMU is subsidising an extra week's travel for the first batch of monthly passes bought by LJMU students, so you can get five weeks travel for the price of four.*

This is just one example of our travel planning work at LJMU - helping students chose ‘greener’ ways to commute to university. For the extra free week travel, in addition to completing the form above, you just need to complete the form here and return to

(*note this promotion has limited availability and will be based upon a first come, first served basis. All applications must be received before 20 February 2012)
