Student helps organise conference on International Day of Peace

LJMU student Samantha Lau is helping organise a conference on International Peace Day which calls for sustainable peace across the world.
Samantha, who is in the final year of her Accountancy degree programme, has been working at Rights and Humanity in Liverpool as part of an internship and has helped set up the conference.
Taking place on Friday 21 September, International Peace Day, the conference is entitled “Sustainable peace for a sustainable future: what can we do?” and includes talks from Dr Scilla Elworthy, Founder of Peace Direct and advisor to Sir Richard Branson, and Vijay Mehta, Chair of Uniting for Peace, President of the Mehta Centre and author of “The economics of killing: How the West fuels war and poverty in the developing world.”
The event takes place from 9.30am to 6pm at The Light in the Royal Liver Building. The cost is £5 for students, £20 for concessions and £35 for standard tickets.
