Funding Alerts - ResearchProfessional
STAFF GUIDE: RESEARCH FUNDING OPPORTUNITIES
Where do I find out about research funding opportunities?
ResearchProfessional to provide staff with detailed, early, alerts to external grant funding opportunities across a comprehensive range of subjects. This service can be accessed by all staff and students at LJMU and we thoroughly recommend its use.
ResearchProfessional.com can be accessed at two levels:
- Campus access – this is provided for anyone accessing the system from any LJMU PC or Mac. It provides general access to the research alert site but searches are limited and cannot be saved.
- Personal account – by registering on the researchresearch.com website you can set up tailor-made searches to suite your specific research interests (e.g., based on any combination of key words, dates, countries and funding bodies etc.). In addition to viewing the results of these funding alert searches on-line you can choose to have the search results (of as many searches as you want to set-up) sent to you as a series of regular email alerts. We recommend using this option to get the most from researchresearch.com.
The service is intuitive and simple to use. Full details of how to make full use of ResearchProfessional.com are available through a set of tutorials and as a set of on-line training videos at:
If you are using the system for the first time then you wll need to log in to access these tutorials.
Further training opportunities
We recommend that researchers join the internal LJMU ‘researchbulletin’ email list. We use this list to circulate details of courses and events that may be of interest to research-active staff.
The research support office (RSO) provides university-wide training courses on applying for and managing research grants. These are carried out in conjunction with other teams such as the finance office and personnel. Details on these courses can be found at:
In addition the RSO will, on request, provide bespoke training in research funding and other matters for Faculties, Schools, research institutes, centres and teams.
Please contact Jean Kelly (Research Support Office) for further details.
