The pre-requisites for this course can be divided into three types:
Educational / Experience-based requirements
Applicants should normally have one of the following qualifications:
- A degree in Computing or related subject; including those with a significant core of Science
- Degree-equivalent professional qualification as above
- DipHE or HND plus a minimum or 3 years' professional experience in Computing or related subject
Additionally, students with non-standard entry qualifications may be admitted after consideration by the Programme Team and Admissions Tutor, subject to suitable professional / industrial experience.
Distance Learning Technical requirements

Security / Clearance requirements
Owing to the sensitive nature of a) techniques and b) material covered in this course, potential students must be prepared to provide proof of their security-related occupation (e.g. law enforcement, organisational security), or demonstrate a commitment to working in this field. Additionally, UK applicants will be subject to satisfactory Criminal Records Bureau (CRB). Overseas applicants will be subject to satisfactory security clearance from either their own local CRB, if applicable, or a law-enforcement equivalent.
