Undergraduate entry 2012 / 2013

Funding for universities and students is changing from September 2012 onwards. LJMU is committed to helping students from all backgrounds succeed in higher education and to making sure that none of our students fail to reach their full potential because of financial hardship or worries about how to make ends meet.

If you are worried about how you’ll manage financially as a student, don’t be afraid to talk to LJMU about it. The University has a dedicated team of staff that can offer you confidential advice on how to organise your finances and ensure you maximise your income while you are a student.

Undergraduate tuition fees: LJMU will be charging a tuition fee of £9,000 per year for UK/EU full-time students starting undergraduate degree courses in 2012. Please note, these tuition fees may not apply to students on NHS courses where alternative funding may be available. First year fee waivers are also available for students enrolled on extended four year degree programmes and for those awarded a National Scholarship Programme award.

What funding is available to help me cover the costs of going to university? The majority of students will be able to take out loans to cover the cost of tuition fees and to contribute towards your living expenses. Depending on your household income, you may also qualify for a grant, which is money you don’t have to pay back. The links on the left hand menu provide more information on student loans, grants and other targeted funding (subject to parliamentary approval) which are available to students starting university in 2012.

I am at university now so will this affect me? No.  The changes only apply to new entrants from September 2012.  Remember, if you have applied to go to university in 2011 but deferred your entry until 2012 you will have to pay the new tuition fees.
