Care leavers

LJMU is committed to helping increase the number of care leavers that go on to study at university.

We have a dedicated member of staff within the Student Advice and Wellbeing team, whose role it is to work with you and your Leaving Care Team to ensure that you receive a smooth transition from school or college to LJMU and that, during your time with us, you are fully supported and your needs are met.

LJMU has set up the John Lennon Imagine Awards to help students who have either been in local authority care or who are estranged from their parents. This is a bursary of a minimum of £1,000 per year which you are eligible to receive for the duration of your studies. 

To qualify, you will need to provide evidence of your status as a Care Leaver – a letter from your Leaving Care worker / Personal Adviser would be ideal.
