Dr Paul R. Ford


Lecturer - Brain & Behaviour and Science & Football

Paul R. Ford is a Lecturer at the Research Institute for Sport and Exercise Sciences, Liverpool John Moores University. He completed his undergraduate degree in Coaching Science and his doctoral degree in Skill Acquisition at Liverpool John Moores University. 

Research areas and current projects

His research areas are expert performance and skill acquisition in sports, as well as science in football and coaching. His current projects include the participation histories of expert athletes; perceptual-cognitive skill (e.g., decision making) and its development; as well as practice and instructional strategies for optimal skill acquisition. He has been funded by The Football Association and UK Sport, and has several years experience coaching elite young soccer players. He is also part of the Football Exchange management team.
