I M Marsh students
Accommodation advice for students studying at I M Marsh
The I M Marsh Campus is located in Aigburth, a quiet and leafy suburb located about four miles from Liverpool city-centre. The Campus is home to the Faculty of Education, Community and Leisure (ECL). The vast majority of new ECL students have always lived in Liverpool city-centre because of the social and leisure facilities that are on hand and also because the accommodation available there is modern and well equipped.
Accommodation for undergraduate students
The only student accommodation located within walking distance of the Campus is Rose Lane - but this is is reserved for new postgraduates and so all new undergraduate ECL students need to select accommodation from the wide range of city-centre options. It is relatively simple to travel to and from I M Marsh if you live in Liverpool city-centre and information about travel options can be found in this guide.
Most of the bedrooms at Apollo Court and Great Newton Hall will be set aside for new ECL undergraduates in academic year 2013/14. Both of these sites are modern, completely en-suite and well located for public transport to I M Marsh. Students who choose to live in one of these two sites are guaranteed to share their flat with other ECL students if they wish.
In addition, Grand Central and North Western Hall are popular with new ECL students. Grand Central is the most expensive accommodation available to new LJMU students and North Western Hall is the cheapest. As you would expect they represent the two extremes in terms of facilities and layout - although North Western Hall represents excellent value for money, given the central location. New ECL students who choose to live at these two sites (or elsewhere in the city) can ask to share their flat with other ECL students, but this cannot be guaranteed.
Accommodation for postgraduate students
New postgraduate students based at I M Marsh are advised to book a bedroom in either Rose Lane, Liberty Atlantic Point or Liberty Prospect Point. Rose Lane is located about ten minutes walk from the Campus and features rooms within self-contained houses with shared bathrooms. The vast majority of Rose Lane residents will be studying on PGCE courses and no new LJMU undergraduates are allowed to live there.
All bedrooms at Liberty Prospect Point and Liberry Atlantic Point feature private en-suite bathrooms and are good value at £105.50 per week (Liberty Prospect Point) or £111.50 per week (Liberty Atlantic Point). Parking is available at £10 per week for residents at Liberty Atlantic Point only. Another option is to take a studio at Apollo Court at a cost of £136 per week. Finally, there are plenty of private houses and flats available in the area around I M Marsh and Liverpool Student Homes is the first place to look for this type of accommodation.
