Leading to Institue of Leadership and Management (ILM) Level 3 Certificate in:
Workplace Coaching for Team Leaders and First Line Management

Aim:

To equip practising and potential team leaders and first line managers with the knowledge, skills and confidence to perform effectively as workplace coaches as part of their normal work role.

Modules:

Following a short induction (usually over a lunch period) for you to assess if the course is for you, there are 2 full days:

  • Day 1 covers Understanding Good Practice in Workplace Coaching
  • Day 2 covers Organising and Undertaking Supervised Coaching in the Workplace

Entry Requirements

There are no formal entry requirements, but participants will normally be practising team leaders or first line managers.  Please read the information leaflet LJMU Workplace Coaching for Team Leaders and First Line Management

There are two options of attendance:  open attendance as a LJMU staff member without leading to a qualification and following the formal qualification route.

  1. Open Attendance 

This entais LJMU staff participating for the 2 days without being required to undertake any further work. 

   2.  Qualificaton Route

For those undertaking the course as an ILM qualifcation a further six hours practical coaching activity is a mandatory requirement along with a work-based assignment (nominally 1000 words) based on the first module and a coaching diary, recording their planning and undertaking of coaching sessions and reflections on the effectiveness of their coaching activity.

If intending to go for the ILM accreditation, participants should normally have successfully completed the ILM Level 2 Award or Certificate in Team Leading or the ILM Level 3 Award, Certificate or Diploma in First Line Management, or an equivalent qualification. Exceptional candidates who have no formal qualification in team leading or first line management, but who have several years' experience and completed some formal training in the role, may also participate.

ILM Membership

All registered candidates automatically become studying members of the ILM for six months and can enjoy a range of member benefits accessible through the ILM website, including study guides and other resources.  Studying members are encouraged to upgrade to the appropriate professional grade of membership to enjoy additional benefits which will support your career and personal development.

Successful completion of a Level 3 qualification provides eligibility for Associate Membership (AMinstLM) of the Institute of Leadership & Management.
