Dr. Zaili Yang, a member of the LOOM Research Institute, received a ‘Best Paper’ award and the Eagle Prize at the International Association of Maritime Economists Conference.
The International Association of Maritime Economists (IAME) was founded in the early 1990s. IAME is an international forum for the exchange of research and information among those interested in maritime and maritime-related issues.
IAME organizes annual events at different institutions each year. The latest conference was hosted in Taipei, Taiwan, 6-8 September 2012.
This year, Dr Yang's paper, "Modelling port choice in an uncertain environment" (external co-authors: G.T. Yeo, A. Ng and P.T.W. Lee), was awarded the Maritime Policy and Management (MPM) Best Paper Award – 1st Runner Up.
MPM is the flagship journal of international shipping and port researcher. The paper will also appear in the MPM journal in 2013.
Dr Yang also received the Eagle Prize, awarded to Outstanding Potential Young Scholars in Maritime Research.
