Interested in being a new student mentor?

23 February 2011

LJMU is committed to supporting students who are Care Leavers throughout their time at the University – we were awarded the Buttle UK (previously the Frank Buttle Trust) Quality Mark to recognise our work in this area.

The Student Advice and Wellbeing team is constantly improving such services and is currently seeking enthusiastic staff and students to act as mentors for new LJMU students who have spent some time in care. You don’t need to have been in care yourself to get involved – just be committed to supporting this group of students.

This is a voluntary role, and would require no more than 2-3 hours of your time each month. We are particularly keen to hear from staff or students who have previous experience in mentoring but if you are new to mentoring, full training will be provided.

Further information on support for Care Leavers can be found at http://www.ljmu.ac.uk/needhelp/102592.htm

If you are interested, please contact Phil Bakstad (Care Leavers Project Coordinator) by calling 0151 231 8098 or by emailing P.Bakstad@ljmu.ac.uk
