09 May 2011
Professor Jin Wang, Director of Liverpool Logistics, Offshore and Marine (LOOM) Research Institute within the School of Engineering, Technology and Maritime Operations, has been awarded a research fellowship of £42,281 from the Leverhulme Trust.
This research fellowship of two years from May 2011 to April 2013 will support Professor Wang to collaborate with three overseas universities in North America, Europe and Asia in the area of shipping regulation appraisal.
Shipping is a complex international industry involving carriage of dangerous cargoes and people by various types and sizes of ships at sea. Recently there has been an increasing national/international recognition that the performance of shipping regulations needs to be reviewed on an urgent basis. This research will investigate the current status of implementing maritime regulations, develop and test a generic framework for studying shipping regulation implementation.
