Product Innovation Show 2011
27 May 2011
The School of Engineering, Technology and Maritimes Operations held its first 'Product Innovation Show' at LJMU's Art and Design Academy recently. The event was attended by the LJMU Vice Chancellor Professor Michael Brown and supported by the Graduate Development Centre, who organised an Alumni Reception held in evening.
The Product Innovation Show displayed work from the School’s BSc courses in Product Innovation & Development and Computer Aided Design. Selected designs were taken from final year individual projects, and from projects undertaken by second year students as part of the ‘Innovation Challenge’ week. This was a weeklong collaborative, customer led design project supported by lectures from innovative organisations including: Ford UK, Design Reality, Human Recognition Systems and United Utilities. Programme leader Adam Papworth remarked: "The quality of the work displayed is exceptional and the employers who attended the event were greatly impressed by the standards set by our students."
Also present were the three LJMU Engineering Technician apprentices (pictured), who presented the Vice Chancellor with a chess set, manufactured as part of their training programme.
