Seminar 4: Supporting Workplace Learning

Invited speakers:
Professor Anne Edwards, University of Oxford
Philippa Cordingley, Centre for the Use of Research and Evidence in Education (CUREE)
Dr Kevin Woods, University of Manchester.
Professor Marion Jones, Liverpool John Moores University

The seminar will specifically focus on:

  • How coaching and /mentoring / fieldwork supervision can support extended learning;
  • Under what conditions learning percolates into wider communities of practice
  • How Activity Theory can help us understand the dynamics of workplace learning and
  • How the university tutor can support the development of an enquiry discourse /culture in the spaces afforded.

The seminar will include contributions from Education and Psychology and as such should be of relevance to colleagues involved in other professional education programmes involving workplace learning. We would therefore like to extend invitations also to all those colleagues whose research and/or professional practice are located in this area.
