New breakfast networking event for students and graduates
25 July 2011
LJMU Start-Up Network launches new breakfast networking club ‘Branching Out’.
LJMU’s Start-Up Network for student and graduate entrepreneurs has joined forces with Your Business eZine, to bring a new monthly breakfast networking club to the city. The aim of ‘Branching Out’ is to create an informal atmosphere where business owners can chat freely chat about their business and what is going on the local business world, whilst making useful connections. By bringing two networks together, it not only increases the number of fresh faces to meet, it is time-saving and more effective.
Your Business eZine is run by LJMU alumni Gavin Sherratt and Paul Court (with their business partner Emma Dolan) and is an online business platform where members can write articles about themselves and be experts in their particular field. Gavin and Paul also run web design company IAW and were joint winners of LJMU’s award of Entrepreneurial Alumnus of the Year 2010.
Dominique Aspey, from the LJMU Start-Up Network, explained why the Network had decided to partner with Your Business eZine:
"Liverpool is a vibrant city to network in but we wanted to bring something a little different and create a relaxed, friendly environment with no registration, no fee to attend and no hard-selling or business pitches. We had more than 60 people through the door at our events in June and July and feedback has been so positive that we’ll be running the event on a monthly basis. It is also a pleasure to work with our alumni Gavin and Paul who are great ambassadors for the University as well as being exemplars for graduate entrepreneurship in the city."
The next Branching Out event is on Tuesday 23 August, 8.00 to 10.00am, at Leaf Tea Shop, Bold Street, Liverpool city centre. For further information, please contact Dominique Aspey on 0151 231 8062 or email firstname.lastname@example.org
