Illuminating Italian internship for LJMU student
27 September 2011
Final year History of Art & Museum Studies student, Hailey Baxter, has spent the last month in Venice working as an Intern at the Peggy Guggenheim Museum.
Hailey commented: "I am having a wonderful time here in Venice even though the people at the Guggenheim are working me very hard".
Her stay coincides with the Venice Biennale, a major international festival of art, which takes place throughout the city, so Hailey has been able to visit multiple exhibitions all across Venice. She has also had some free time to travel to other cities of cultural importance, such as Lucca.
Dr. Emma Roberts, Senior Lecturer in History of Art & Museum Studies added:
"This is so much more than an internship. It is an amazing opportunity for personal development and growth. Hailey is making contact with people from all over the world and is learning so much about art of every period. This really is one of the best examples of the LJMU World of Work initiative in action. The programme continues to embed WoW activitities within its modules and thereby give the students a rich variety of life and work experiences.”
Hailey has been writing a blog whilst she is away that gives a real feel of what life and work have been like for her. The blog is available at http://talesofaninterninvenice.blogspot.com/
