LJMU Fashion students helping fundraise for Alder Hey

Catwalk ModelLJMU Fashion students and graduates are taking part in several fundraising events for Alder Hey Children's Hospital this week, including a fashion show on Friday, 28 October.

The event is called The Graduate Throw and will be showcasing talent from the designers of tomorrow, with Fashion graduates Louise Boarder, Gemma Howarth, Lauren Schofield, Laura Wallace and Jody Wood displaying their collections.

It is free to attend - seats are on a first come, first served basis - and takes place at 7pm at Palm Sugar Lounge, Liverpool ONE.

Also at the event will be a licensed raffle to raise funds for Alder Hey. Tickets cost £1 each. First prize is two VIP tickets to London Fashion Week with backstage passes, designer day with Kirsty Doyle and overnight stay with breakfast at the Hilton Liverpool. Second prize is a two-night stay in a Small Luxury Hotel. The group has a worldwide portfolio of over 500 independent hotels in more than 75 countries, from a romantic hideaway, safari lodge, city sanctuary to a spa retreat. Third prize is a Chanel goody bag of cosmetics worth over £200 and fourth prize is a pink Nintendo DS with two games.

The fundraising events start on Tuesday, 25 October (see below for further details) and LJMU students are helping out throughout all of them, giving assistance backstage and choreographing the models. The students are also helping with the Alder Hey Clothes Throw pop-up shop which will be open for one day only. Open from 10am to 5pm on Saturday, 29 October, the event will take place at Liverpool ONE, in the former Habitat shop in Manesty’s Lane. On sale will be new and previously owned high street, vintage and designer clothes and accessories at reasonable prices.

Events throughout the Clothes Throw week:

The Boys Club – Tues 25th Oct, 7.00pm. Palm Sugar Lounge, Liverpool ONE, £20. Drinks reception and canapés. A networking event with celebrity donated items from Daniel Craig, John Bishop and Michael Buble and exclusive auction prizes including a luxury New York holiday, signed jockeys breeches from AP McCoy, a tailor made shirt and sports memorabilia from LFC players.

The Style Council – Weds 26th Oct, 5.30pm. Palm Sugar Lounge, Liverpool ONE, £20. Drinks reception and canapé. Women's networking event with fashion shows from Kirsty Doyle, Wade Smith, Benna Harry and Bullet, hair master class from Andrew Collinge, advice from fashion insiders and an auction with items from Karl Lagerfeld, Joan Collins, Mulberry, Temperley, the Editors of Vogue and Cosmopolitan and more.

Afternoon Tea Party – Thurs 27th Oct, 2.30pm. Palm Sugar Lounge, Liverpool ONE, £20. Pre party for the Clothes Throw Finale catwalk auction, complete with tea, cakes and cocktails. The catwalk auction includes items from Carol Vorderman, Joan Collins, Nicole Richie, Halston Heritage and more.

The Clothes Throw Finale Auction – Thurs 27th Oct, 7.30pm. Palm Sugar Lounge, Liverpool ONE £30 (or buy an Afternoon Tea and Clothes Throw Finale Auction ticket for £45). Celebrity Clothes Throw catwalk auction with drinks reception, cocktails and canapés with items including Sienna Miller’s Twenty8twelve jacket, Beyonce’s bag, Issa dress made famous by Kate Middleton’s engagement and the Kate Moss Helmut Lang dress and more.
