Struggling to sort out your student finance?

26 October 2011

The University is aware that some students are still struggling to sort out their student finance for a variety of reasons and a small number of you have not yet been paid.

Maybe you have been given conflicting information from your funding body or maybe you have been asked to send the same documents in repeatedly.

LJMU’s Student Advice team is here to help. Why not come along to a drop-in session in Kingsway House Annexe, Hatton Garden, between 1.00pm and 5.00pm Monday to Friday?  No appointment is necessary, but please bring any recent correspondence from your funding body with you.

Before you come to see us please make sure you have done the following:

Make sure you sign and send back your declaration to the Student Loans Company. A copy of this can be found in your correspondence file on your online account at www.direct.gov/studentfinance
Please note: you are not agreeing to an amount of money by signing and retuning this, just the terms and conditions.

If your paperwork from the Student Loans Company does not stipulate LJMU as your institution this is likely to be why you have not yet received any money. You need to take a copy of this correspondence (even though it has the wrong university on) to the transaction desk in the Student Zone located in your local Learning Resource Centre. You should also log into your online account on www.direct.gov.uk/studentfinance to change your university to LJMU online if you have not already done so.

Please note that the Student Loans Company will not speak to us without you being present so you need to come in person with the appropriate paperwork if you need our assistance.
