LJMU students' fantastic fundraising
25 November 2011
Following on from last year's extremely successful Charity Week when more than £20,000 was raised, LJMU's Isoc (Islamic Society) returned once again this year to continue fundraising with their annual Charity Week. It comprised a whole host of events that raised money for orphans and needy children worldwide.
This year, running from Monday 14 to Sunday 20 November, the events held included krispy kreme and cake sales all over campus, a charity auction where a fantastic range of items were sold and even a sponsored climb up Mount Snowdon in North Wales.
Additionally, highlighting the fact that charity work isn't always about the amount of money raised, a Feed the Homeless event was held during the week. This saw students contributing to the local community and acted as a timely reminder of the difficulties with which individuals are faced with on a day to day basis.
The annual fundraising dinner will be held on Thursday 1 December at the prestigious Abhaya function suite where there will be great entertainment, a variety of stalls, representatives from the charity, local speakers as well as a three course meal.
