DIY City publication by LJMU reader
21 December 2011
DIY City is a new online 70 page electronic publication edited by LJMU's Dr Robert Macdonald, Reader in Architecture in the Art & Design Academy.
Robert has written and produced two other books Imagine and Morphocity. The emphasis in DIY City is about the potential of community urban regeneration. Not all architecture is made by star architects; artists, and others have a significant role, as do the community of urban neighbourhoods. The book comprises 16 keynote illustrated invited essays and was sponsored by The RIBA, NHS Merseycare and NWDA.
The RIBA has been approached about producing a hardback paper copy.
The Book was designed by Dominic Witter of Unfold. Since completing the DIY City initiative, Robert has been elected as a NHS Merseyside Councillor and now his objectives are to develop connections between Healthy Cities, medical architecture and urban design.
