19 June 2012

LJMU Head of the Centre for Health and Social Care Informatics (CHaSCI) Dr Farath Arshad, will be speaking at the Regional Tailored Care event to be held on Friday 22nd June at the LACE Conference Centre.

The special event on ‘Innovation, Health and Wealth’ is part of the National initiative - 3 Million Lives & Whole System Demonstrator with the Department of Health’s Deputy Director for Long Term Conditions, Stephen Johnson presenting the initiative.  The event will be launched by Chief Executive of Liverpool Community Health NHS Trust, Bernie Cuthel.
The conference will bring together policy makers, clinicians ranging from Matrons, GPs, Healthcare Professionals as well as Telecare developers such as Philips and Tunstall.
Dr Farath Arshad will be presenting the work undertaken by LJMU on evaluating the Telehealth Proof of concept project.  The Telehealth Technology, developed by Philips and rolled out to patients in Merseyside bought together many partners. This included Liverpool PCT, Liverpool Community Health and Informatics Merseyside (a shared NHS Health Informatics service) which commissioned the University to undertake an independent evaluation of patient experience of using the technology for managing long term conditions.
CHaSCI has a Memorandum of Understanding with NHS Informatics Merseyside, which has enabled the two organisations to collaborate successfully over the last couple of years on a range of projects within Health Informatics.
