The School of Sport and Exercise Sciences has also revealed its pride at playing a key role in Team GB shooter, Peter Wilson's London 2012 Olympic Games gold medal success.

LJMU was engaged in a three-year research project with British Shooting, which started in 2007, with the specific target of achieving medals at London 2012.

Dr Joe Causer, who led the research and is a senior lecturer in Applied Sport Psychology, told Podium UK:

"Peter's gold medal shows his determination and desire to be the best in the world, but also demonstrates how coaches and support staff can be integrated into an organisation to maximise the chances of success."

Additionally Dr Zoe Knowles, was interviewed by Sean Styles at BBC Radio Merseyside about the significant role of psychology in this year's Olympic Games: http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio/player/p00w89mp (approx 32 minutes in and available for seven days)
