After her achievements in the Olympic Games and enjoying Sunday night's spectacular Closing Ceremony, Beth Tweddle's feet are now firmly back on the ground!

Beth, who graduated from LJMU in 2007 with a degree in Sports Science, recognises the support she received from LJMU as a Sports Scholar.

At LJMU we value our Sports Scholars and have in place a scheme to allow them to reach their full potential, both in terms of their sporting ambitions and in terms of their ultimate career goals - whether they are within or outside of sport. Beth said:

"The Olympics is every athlete's dream but to have it on home soil is a wicked opportunity! The whole experience of the Games here in London has been amazing and to finish them off with a medal in my pocket is a dream come true. Everyone knows how much the medal meant to me and finally my dreams are complete! The staff at LJMU were a massive help throughout my time at University, whether it was supporting me with my training or enabling me to complete both my academic and sporting commitments."
