Tuition fees - Continuing Students
All students regardless of their income are charged a tuition fee for each year of their course.
For UK domiciled students (often called Home students) and EU students who started their course prior to September 2012, studying full-time Undergraduate and PGCE courses at LJMU the fees for the 2012/13 academic year will be £3,465. Please note if you have studied at university before, you may be charged a higher fee. See the 'Previous study and ELQs' section for more information.
How can I pay my tuition fees?
As long as you meet the personal eligibility rules (relating to your age and residence) and have not been to university before, you do not have to pay your tuition fees up front. Instead you can take out a non-means tested loan to cover the cost of your fees. This will make it easier for you to budget and manage your day to day finances. If you do not want to take out a tuition fee loan you can opt to pay the fees yourself. You can also opt to pay part loan and part yourself if you want to - it is up to you.How do I apply for a tuition fee loan?
You can apply by logging on to www.direct.gov.uk/studentfinance. You can also apply for your living costs support (grants and loans) at the same time.I have read that tuition fees are going up. Will these changes apply to me?
Tuition fees are changing for students entering Higher Education from 1st September 2012. Anyone already at university won't be affected by these changes.What if I defer my place until 2012?
If you defer your entry from 2011 until September 2012 you will have to pay the new tuition fees.Things you should know:
Tuition Fee Loans are available to full-time, Undergraduate and PGCE students from the UK or the EU.- You can have a tuition fee loan for each year of your course
- They are not means tested in any way.
- The Tuition Fee Loan will be paid direct to LJMU
- The tuition fee loans will be repaid at the end of your course once your income goes over £15,000. Repayments will be via the tax system at 9% of your income over £15,000
