What our students say
Sara Abanto Zamora - Peru
“Attending LJMU to study architecture has been an enjoyable experience. The support provided by the university has been invaluable, ranging from regular tutoring sessions to career services. My horizons were expanded through attending events, and Liverpool's dynamic city life presents endless possibilities.”
Sara is in her final year of her architecture course, which consists of three years of study followed by a year of required practical experience. She then intends to go back and get a master's degree, which will be followed by more professional employment and an exam. Sara’s experience is a perfect example of how extensive our Architecture programme is.
Sara has a clear strategy for the future. With an eye towards landing a job in the UK, she plans to complete her portfolio, which is an essential application tool. With the chance to stay in the UK for a year after graduating, Sara intends to fully engage in the workforce and look for work during the period of her visa.
Taha Cheikhi – Morocco
“The people at LJMU—the faculty, other students, and the energetic environment—are unquestionably my favourite part of studying here. I also appreciate the range of activities and events the university hosts. I've made many friends and cherished memories through these events, especially with the societies.”
Taha is an MSc Cyber Security student, he is involved in multiple social and cultural societies at LJMU. He is a member of the International Society and holds a committee position. This has given him the chance to attend social events and meet international students, promoting cultural exchange. Taha has also joined the North African and Arab societies, which lets him connect with peers who share his heritage and host collaborative events with other universities. These experiences have enhanced his overall university experience.
Mayar Elhomsani – Egypt
“Being surrounded by so many international students fosters a sense of community and support. It is reassuring to know that there are people out there going through similar struggles. This connection is further strengthened by the international society which brings us all together for fun get-togethers, regardless of nationality.”
Mayar was drawn to Liverpool because of its diversity and to LJMU because of its special MAM programme, which focuses on patient care and pharmacy skills seminars. Placements improved her experience; one such was a two-week assignment. She experienced a great feeling of community because she was surrounded by peers from around the world and was helped by an international community. Her academic experience was enhanced by the International Advisory Service's assistance with employability and visas, as well as the continued scholarships offered by LJMU.
