Dr. Emad Kenawy is a Senior Lecturer (Professor Assistant) in the Civil Engineering and Built Environment at LJMU, with over 25 years of experience spanning academia, real estate, and urban planning. He holds a PhD in Collaborative Ecotourism Planning from the University of Liverpool and has worked extensively with international organizations such as UN-Habitat, UNDP, and GIZ. His research interests focus on real estate development, sustainable urban planning, and environmental management, specializing in property acquisitions and development strategies. Dr. Kenawy’s industry experience includes leading real estate acquisitions, conducting market analysis, and managing large-scale urban planning projects. He also has expertise in Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and sustainable construction technologies, particularly Zero Carbon Homes.
Research Interests:

Industry Experience: Dr. Kenawy has led teams in evaluating real estate assets and expanding property portfolios, conducting feasibility studies, and negotiating property deals across international projects. He was a Senior urban planner and team leader in preparing the strategic spatial plans for cities and rural villages. Dr Kenawy was working as Urban planner consultant in various governmental bodies and private sector for preparing the local voluntary reports to review the progress of cities towards the Sustainable Development Goals for 2030, focusing on Goal no.11.
