Bahraini-born Bader Awadh is studying his undergraduate degree in Mechanical Engineering here at LJMU.
Bader craved a sense of adventure and independence when deciding to move to the UK: “I wanted to a gain a higher level of responsibility. I came to experience the difference cultures that the UK has to offer.”
After hearing excellent reviews from his friends who had also studied at LJMU, Bader decided it was a fit for him. He was drawn by the standard and variety of courses available in his chosen field: “The type of engineering they teach at LJMU was more practical rather than all theoretical, which made coming here an easy choice.”
The practical skills that students gain at LJMU are world-class. The university’s strong industry links ensures that undergraduates not only acquire specialised knowledge but gain the experience to be able to apply them in a professional environment.
“The main thing I love about my course is the hands-on type of engineering. We have a lot of practical work and everything we do is based on a real-world scenario which helps in visualising data.”
LJMU campuses are situated in the heart of Liverpool and Bader’s favourite thing about it was the city was its variety and friendly people: “The amount of things to do never ends and you keep discovering different things to do everyday.”
Bader made the leap to travel from Bahrain to Liverpool and is enjoying every moment of his life in Liverpool as a student of Liverpool John Moores University.
