    The Raspberry Pi, which you may receive, is intended to allow you to experiment with computing devices and develop your computing/coding skills prior to commencing your course.

  2. Dr Pooja Saini

    Pooja is a Reader in Suicide and Self-Harm Prevention in the School of Psychology, having joined LJMU in 2018. For more than a decade, her dedication to researching suicide has taken her out of the lecture theatre and into the field, playing a vital role in helping to establish James’ Place, the first safe, accessible service for suicidal men in community settings.

  3. Gary Blacker

    Gary is a paramedic science graduate of LJMU with over two decades of experience in the ambulance service. He has now made the transition to become a full-time member of staff at the university, teaching the next generation of health professionals. In 2023 he was named as an Outstanding Teacher at the students’ union awards after being nominated by his students.

  4. Brain and Behaviour Research Group

    In the Brain and Behaviour Research Group within RISES, we study human motor behaviour from the neural level through to perception and cognition. Our two main areas of research are sensorimotor neuroscience and expert performance and learning.

    Based within LJMU’s Faculty of Engineering and Technology, LIVE Lab provides cutting-edge facilities for the development and delivery of usability research through immersive, virtual, mixed and augmented reality technologies.

    Find out about the range of first-rate facilities used by the staff and students of the Built Environment and Sustainable Technologies Research Institute (BEST) including labs for radio frequency and microwave sensors, highways research, industrial chemistry, soil mechanics, hydraulics, surveying, light structures and materials, structural testing, and concrete.

  9. (Post)qualitative Research in Education

    The (Post)qualitative Research in Education group recognises and works across the following areas of activity and interest: ‘Research in Psychogeography, Post-qualitative inquiry, Authoethnography, and Life-Writing in education’ (RiPPALe).
