1. Long service awards

   The university has updated the Long Service Awards scheme to include celebration of reaching additional key milestones at 25, 35, 45 and 50+ years’ service.

   As part of LJMU's focus on staff wellbeing, we are offering free e-vouchers to get your flu jab.

3. LJMU is offering students access to IT services off campus like never before

   Do you prefer to study out of hours? Is there a pressing lab report that you need access to? No problem! LJMU is providing students with 24/7 access to IT services off campus. That means you can access Office 365 from your own device and download other software onto your own laptop/computer as well as accessing lab computers.

4. LJMU Climate Research Institute

   Staff are invited to attend a second workshop focussed on the proposed LJMU Climate Research Institute. It follows the successful design sprint session held in December, in which colleagues with research interests in the area met to begin scoping out the planned institute.

5. £4k raised so far through NSS

   Final year students have raised £4,000 for charity so far, by completing the National Student Survey.

6. Cycling events at LJMU

   LJMU is hosting a series of events to support cyclists of all abilities and experience.

7. Yuletide TV schedules remain culturally significant

   Dr Joanne Knowles, Senior Lecturer in Media, Culture and Communication, School of Humanities and Social Science, comments on why the Christmas TV schedule is still so eagerly anticipated, even in the age of on-demand viewing.

8. Astro-ecology: Counting orangutans using star-spotting technology

   LJMU, WWF and HUTAN came together to examine better ways of detecting the great apes in the Bornean forest canopy, by using drones fitted with thermal-imaging cameras.

9. Sports and Exercise Science student coaches at Strongest Woman Competition

   Student Laura Dye, 32, has coached Rebecca Roberts to victory as placed second at the Arnold Strongwoman Competition in Ohio, USA.

10. Art and research project with FACT and those affected by the UK justice system unveiled

    Dr Emma Murray, Reader in Military Veteran Studies at LJMU and Criminologist-in-Residence at FACT has been a long-term collaborator on the project.
