Alfred William Thomas was an engineering with Elder Dempster in the early part of the twentieth century, read the account of his experiences with the company.

Barry Groombridge joined Elder Dempster Lines aged 16. Barry’s first voyage was from London to the United States, via West Africa. The voyage lasted nine months. Barry Fowler joined King Edward the Seventh Nautical College, London in May 1952. Barry spent four years as an apprentice and eventually rose to the position of captain at Elder Dempster Lines.
The University Women in the Professional services (WPS) is for all female staff in professional services at all levels. Established in 2022 we see the Network as taking a fundamental role to the University strategic mission and to become a visible and proactive consultative group on issues of gender diversity.
