1. Expertise in design and technology education shared at international UNESCO event

2. Salters' Festival of Chemistry brings together the next generation of scientists

   Over 50 school pupils came to LJMU to enjoy a day in the labs, as part of the Salters' Festival of Chemistry.

3. Training for managers: disabilities and long-term health conditions, including mental health

   LJMU’s Equality, Diversity & Inclusion (EDI) Team, are proud to be working in partnership with coaching and training specialists; Result CIC (Community Interest Company) and are pleased to offer LJMU Managers, Programme Leaders and Personal Tutors (those directly responsible for staff/students) the opportunity to participate in a half day Training for Managers of Staff with Disabilities & Long-Term Health Conditions Including Mental Health, workshop.

4. LJMU Climate Research Institute

   Staff are invited to attend a second workshop focussed on the proposed LJMU Climate Research Institute. It follows the successful design sprint session held in December, in which colleagues with research interests in the area met to begin scoping out the planned institute.

5. Data protection related policy updates

   Four data protection related policies have been updated and can now be found on the LJMU Policy Centre.

6. Primate population threat up by 20% in 20 years

   LJMU’s Professor Serge Wich, and other internationally recognised experts, have published a paper calling for urgent action to protect the world’s dwindling primate populations.

8. Major new joint research project will focus on mental health of jockeys and staff in the horse racing industry

   LJMU, Racing Welfare and the BHA will be carrying out a major new piece of research into the provision of mental health services across horse racing.

   They are most-commonly associated with a blocked nose and headaches but the humble sinuses could hold an important key to the evolution of the human face.

10. degree apprenticeships

    LJMU is set to expand its successful degree apprenticeship programmes after being awarded significant new funding. The university has received £1m from the Office for Students’ national fund to support level 6 degree apprenticeships.
