Submissions for Students at the Heart Conference 2025

The call for submissions is now live for the 2025 LJMU Students at the Heart Conference 18 and 19 June 2025.

Please note:
Deadline date for submissions is 9am on 7 February 2025.

We invite submissions from staff, students, and collaborative partners across all departments, including professional services, academics, technical teams, and researchers. Whether you're exploring new teaching methods, advancing technological approaches, implementing projects, or developing supportive resources and systems, we want to hear your stories and insights.

Your proposal could focus on best practice approaches, diversity and inclusion, support and wellbeing, inclusive learning environments, collaboration, assessment and feedback. However, proposals on other relevant topics are also welcome. We encourage all talks and posters to embrace our core value of placing students at the heart of everything we do. When writing your proposal, you may wish to refer to the LJMU Mission and Strategy.

We have three types of sessions that you can submit to, as follows:

  • 25-minute session: 15 to 20 minutes presentation time 5 to 10 minutes for discussion/questions
  • 5-minute lightning talk: 5 minutes presentation time (2 slides only allowed for your presentation), multiple lightning talks will be scheduled within one session
  • 5-minute poster presentation: presenters will stand by their posters to give a brief, focused explanation of their work and answer questions within 5 minutes, multiple posters will be scheduled within one session

Successful submissions will be judged on a combination of the following:

  • Relevance of the topic and likely interest to a wide audience
  • Potential for good practice to be adopted elsewhere in the institution
  • Extent to which approaches are inclusive and support the achievement of underrepresented groups
  • Application of student and staff voices to enhance the university experience
  • Interesting and effective use of technology to engage staff and students
  • Insightfulness of ideas
  • Extent to which practice is evidence-informed or has the potential to contribute to the evidence-base
  • Research based submissions should include relevant details of the research process and a broad outline of the results (if these are available at the time of submission)

Titles of sessions must not exceed 15 words; the session overview should be no longer than 300 words. Successful submissions will be published on the LJMU website before and after the event. To view proceedings from previous years please visit our Student Experience Proceedings journal.
