Research Information Systems
Symplectic Elements
Symplectic Elements is the University’s research information management system. It retrieves and stores your publication data from international publisher platforms such as Scopus and Web of Science. Staff can also manually add information about publications not indexed to these platforms, and record details of their professional activities.
At LJMU this information is used in a number of ways:
- To populate the externally facing staff profiles on the LJMU website
- To deposit research publications and data into the institutional open access repository
- To enable the monitoring and analysis of research outputs and quality across research groups, schools and faculties.
Symplectic is available for all staff and PhD students.
Please log in using your current LJMU username and password. A quick-start guide is available but for additional help to access Symplectic, please email SymplecticHelp@ljmu.ac.uk.
SciVal
The SciVal research analytics database allows you to benchmark and evidence the strengths of your research publishing track record. To use this tool optimally, an understanding of bibliometrics is required. Research performance reports at LJMU departmental, School, Research Centre and Research Institute levels can be generated; please contact Dr Diana Leighton for further information d.j.leighton@ljmu.ac.uk
