1. LJMU residential for young people

   LJMU Outreach has welcomed young people from 12 schools across the north west region to its annual Year 10 Residential, targeted specifically at those in local authority or residential care.

2. Empowering staff to support PGRs from racially minoritised groups

   Academic and professional services staff who support PGRs have a bespoke training and development opportunity designed by the educational charity Grit Breakthrough. Using a coaching approach to support PGRs is a two-day online coaching workshop, which will run across two days in November.

3. Respect Always Coffee and Catch Ups this November

   Do you feel respected within LJMU? All staff are invited to Respect Always 'Coffee and Catch Ups' throughout November to tell us your thoughts. Refreshments will also be provided.

   As part of LJMU's 'Getting it Right' campaign, here our LJMU Equality team explains why pronouns are important, and their five top tips when it comes to using them.

5. Launch of Your LJMU Your Voice 2024

   This month we are launching the Your LJMU Your Voice 2024 staff engagement survey.

6. Postgraduate Taught Experience Survey

   LJMU has opened the national Postgraduate Taught Experience Survey (PTES) for level 7 students.

7. Staff car parking update August 2023

   The university will continue to subsidise staff car parking until 31 August 2024.

8. Mind the GaP!

   Time is rapidly running out for Principal Investigators to be trained on the new Grants and Projects (GaP) system. It has been agreed by the University that any bids for external funding (research and enterprise activity) from April 2020 will need to be set up by the Principal Investigator on the GaP system, so its important that you book onto training ASAP.

9. Let’s Talk About Race Equality (Debating White Privilege, Micro-Aggressions, Allyship & Active Bystanders)

   The 2020 Black Lives Matter movement, reignited conversations on the subject of race equality, across the globe - The need for positive culture change was at the forefront of those discussions. This workshop aims to equip participants with the knowledge, skills and confidence to address race equality at LJMU and understand the importance of ally-ship.
