The Research Centre for Brain and Behaviour has dedicated facilities including: EEG, psychophysiology, appetite research and neuroscience microneurography laboratories plus experimental testing booths and a sleep-over rest room. We also share a number of facilities with other science departments within the University.
The Applied Physiology Nutrition and Metabolism Group within RISES are involved in health, wellbeing, recovery and sporting performance. Our research into exercise metabolism and adaptation is applicable to the design of interventions that improve human health.
Our interest lies in the evolution of animal societies and the interactions that occur within these societies and their link to emotion, cognition and communication. We primarily study primates (including humans) but also other species including birds. Ibe founded Cycle for Life, a Toxteth based organisation that strives to ensure the community has a voice in the active travel revolution in Liverpool and the confidence to cycle in their city. Ibe and his team are getting support from LJMU’s Business School to now scale up their community-focused work and increase their social value.
