Jobs and vacancies at LJMU

Student focused, inclusive, courageous and caring about our community.

Since 1823 we’ve been the university for the people of Liverpool. We raise people up, champion change, and work in partnerships with people and organisations to make a difference. And we always place our students at the heart of everything we do. It’s why we’re one of the largest and well-established universities in the UK.

Now, 200 years later our influence goes far beyond our city. Over 28,000 students study with us on campus or at one of our 30 institutional partners across the globe.

We reach far and wide

We’re proud of our global influence.

We are the only astronomy group in the UK that operates its own major optical telescope. Based in the Canary Islands, students and thousands of people have access to the Liverpool Telescope.

Our research has impact around the world. In Nepal, a young girl knows our name because our research projects help to address the stigma of period shame.

Our graduates do amazing things

They win Grammys, they use their investigative journalistic skills to expose injustice, and even win Olympic medals. Some of them come back to lecture at LJMU and share their knowledge to the next generation.

We celebrate our students and partners – you can find out more about some of the people who have shaped and been shaped by our university.

Making a difference

While we strive to make a difference across the globe, we are also really connected to Liverpool. We have campus clinics that provide free legal and business advice to the people of the city. Our nursing, teaching and policing degree apprenticeships provide vital skills and graduates to our schools, hospitals and employers. We uphold a spirit of adventure and innovation and give back to our local communities. We also try to reach and support people who never thought they could go to university or thought that working at a university was for them.

Making a difference is what a university should be about.

LJMU is more than just a university - it’s a place where our students, staff, alumni, partners and community belong.
