Intermediate Learn to Ride Class

Join our Intermediate Learn to Ride Class and learn how to ride a bike within a small group and safe environment.

This event has already taken place.

John Lennon Art and Design Building

11.30 - 13.30

Come along to our Intermediate Learn to Ride class and learn how to safely ride a bike on the road in a small group of up to three people. These sessions are for those who have already completed the Beginner Learn to Ride Class or that have some recent cycling experience and are wanting to build on their skills, learn to ride on the road, and improve their confidence. During this session you will learn how to:

  • Start and stop confidently;
  • Pass stationary vehicles;
  • Understand the road;
  • Negotiate the road; and
  • Share the road with other vehicles.

You will have your basic cycling skills checked in an off-road environment before heading out on to the road for a ride.

We have three sessions on Sunday 13th October, starting at either 09:00, 11:30 or 14:00.

Each session will last for 2 hours. We will meet outside of John Lennon Art and Design Building before progressing to an on-road environment.

We can provide helmets so you don’t need to own one to attend, but if you have your own you’re welcome to bring it! We ask that you bring your own bike to this event in anticipation that you are ready to take up cycling on the road. If you do not have a bike for this event, please make us aware of this on your initial enquiry so that we can help arrange bicycle hire.

These events aim to be inclusive, particularly for those who typically have a lower uptake of cycling such as women, those on low incomes, and those who identify as belonging to an ethnic minority group.
