Great British Beach Clean

Join us as we attend the Marine Conservation Society Great British Beach Clean event in West Kirby

West Kirby

09:00 - 11:30

Join us as we attend the Great British Beach Clean event in West Kirby, run by the Marine Conservation Society.

As we pick up litter on the beach, we’ll be recording what we’ve collected. This data is key for the Marine Conservation Society as they monitor what is found on beaches all around the UK and Northern Ireland every year, which helps to track progress and drive policy change. Examples of how this data has been used includes the introduction of the plastic bag charge, banning microplastics in personal care products, better wet wipe labelling, and supporting a tax on single-use plastic items.

We’ll be meeting at Liverpool Lime Street station at 9am on Friday 20 September and getting the train to West Kirby to join the Marine Conservation Society event. The event is from 10am to 11.30am and afterwards you’ll be free to return to Liverpool or enjoy the local area and the cafes, shops, or walks available.

All equipment will be provided, and we’ll be paying for return train tickets for anyone who would like to attend. Cully and Sully will also be at the event providing free cups of soup!

If you’d like to join please email sustainability@ljmu.ac.uk before 5pm on Monday 16 September.
