Trip to Farm Urban
Join the Environmental Sustainability and Energy Team as we visit the Farm Urban HQ!
Farm Urban are an organisation based in Liverpool, founded with the aim of finding healthier and more sustainable solutions to our food system. Their headquarters in the Baltic Triangle, where we’ll be visiting, is home to their vertical farm, the first within Liverpool City Region. This vertical farm is a way to grow food within the city where space is limited, to deliver fresh and nutritious food to local communities with reduced food miles.
The visit will include:
- A tour of the Farm Urban HQ
- Q&A
- A film screening
- Interactive workshop where you’ll be able to build a mini aquaponic system

We’ll be meeting at Moorfields station around 1.15pm on Wednesday 19 February and getting the train to Brunswick station. This is a short walk to the Farm Urban HQ where we’ll start the tour at 2pm. The session will last around two hours after which you’ll be free to make your own way home or return back to Moorfields with the team.
We’ll be paying for return train tickets for anyone who would like to attend and travel by train.
This is a free event, however, as there is limited space we are asking those who wish to attend to pay a £5 deposit, which will be returned after the event has passed. If you are not able to attend, please let us know at the earliest opportunity so we can offer your space to another student.
If you have any questions about the trip, please email sustainability@ljmu.ac.uk
