1. Paid opportunities for LJMU students to be a part-time school tutor with The Tutor Trust

   Become a paid school tutor alongside your studies with The Tutor Trust and hear from an LJMU student who is currently working for the organisation.

2. Christmas closure and support services over the festive break

   The university will close at 5pm on Thursday 23 December and reopen at 9am on Tuesday 4 January. The Student Life Building will be open 24/7 throughout the festive break including on Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Years Day.

3. Transformative criminological research celebrated at FACT 20th anniversary

   Dr Emma Murray, a Reader in Military Veteran Studies, has been collaborating with FACT since 2014 and in 2019 became FACT’s Criminologist-in-Residence.

4. LJMU receives £1.3million for new STFC data science training centre

   Liverpool John Moores University, in partnership with the University of Liverpool, are set to host a new £1.3million Centre for Doctoral Training providing comprehensive postgraduate training in data intensive science.

5. Islamophobia Awareness Month

   November is the start of Islamophobia Awareness Month, and this year also marks 10 years of the awareness campaign, which showcases the positive contributions made to society, by Muslims, as well as raising awareness of Islamophobia in society.

6. Fuelling the Lionesses: how research is changing nutrition practice and culture within the women’s game

   Two recent studies, focused specifically on elite female players, conducted by LJMU's Research Institute of Sports and Exercise Sciences (RISES), are helping the national the team to better understand the nutritional requirements of their female players.

7. Academic Board Elections - Non-Teaching Staff

   Following the call for nominations, an election for the non-teaching member of staff on Academic Board will take place.

8. Honorary Fellowship: Lord Hall of Birkenhead

   Liverpool John Moores University awards Honorary Fellowship to Lord Hall of Birkenhead at Liverpool Cathedral on Friday 15 July 2016.

   LJMU has secured an exceptional outcome in its recent Higher Education Review by the Quality Assurance Agency (QAA), becoming the first university to receive two commended judgements.
