   LJMU has been shortlisted for University of the Year plus several other categories in this year’s Educate North Awards.

6. Reciprocal Mentoring Programme involving BAME Staff, Black Students and Senior Leaders

   Given the success of last year's pilot, we are running the LJMU Reciprocal Mentoring Programme again and we are extending it to include BAME staff from across the institution. The programme is open to all LJMU Senior Staff from Director Level of non BAME Background and to BAME staff from non-Director Level and to Black Students from all Faculties.

7. Retracing "world's most costly" ship crash on LJMU Maritime Simulator

   After the worlds most costly cargo ship accident, maritime expert Dr Abdul Khalique mans LJMU's £2.5 million simulator to explain what went wrong on board the Ever Given.

8. Space Oddity: Most distant disc galaxy discovered

   LJMU astrophysicist works with European Southern Observatory and collaborators to confirm Milky Way-like galaxy from 700m years after Big Bang

9. Applications for Discovery Internships for level 5 and 6 students now open

   The final round of paid Discovery Internships for this academic year, which are all sustainability themed, are open for applications now from second and final year (level 5 and 6) students.
